In the heart of Hamminkeln, the local public library is set to transform into a hub of learning and innovation, as it embarks on a new collaborative project with the VHS Wesel-Hamminkeln-Schermbeck. This project, known as "Hamminkeln Public Library on the Way to a Meeting Point, (Digital) Learning Hub, and Educational Partner," is being supported by North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) with an estimated funding of 20,000 euros.

The first event series, titled "AI in Daily Life," is set to launch on September 18, 2025, with an introduction to AI by Mr. Frank Schlegel from DigitalDurstig. This series aims to provide factual information about artificial intelligence, helping to form well-informed opinions about this hot topic.

On October 11, 2025, at 5:30 pm, reading and literature pedagogue Anja Kuypers will deliver a lecture on the importance of reading aloud to young children. This event is part of the series and will be held at the library, which will provide the necessary premises and media resources.

The series will continue with Mr. Peter Zelmer from ADFC Hamminkeln discussing the opportunities and risks of digital bike route planning on October 8, 2025, at 6 pm. The focus will be on whether AI can aid in planning routes, and the event will also take place at the library.

Further events are planned for the second half of 2025, with Mr. Wolf-Dieter Scheid from the State Working Group for Protestant Adult Education in Saarland leading an AI in Daily Life Practical Workshop on November 5, 2025, at 4:30 pm.

The collaboration between the North Rhine-Westphalia Public Library and the VHS Wesel-Hamminkeln-Schermbeck includes regular coordination meetings, long-term event series planning, joint marketing, offers for people in various situations, and a focus on lifelong learning.
