AGB Appoints New President Framroze M. Virjee
The Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) has appointed a new president and CEO. Framroze M. Virjee takes over from interim leader Ellen Chaffee, who stepped in after Henry Stoever's resignation last fall. Despite an extensive search, the new president's identity was not immediately clear.
Virjee brings a wealth of experience to the role. He previously served as the president emeritus of California State University at Fullerton. Before that, he worked as a lawyer and as the California State University System's liaison to its governing board. Ross Mugler, an AGB board member, praised Virjee's deep understanding of the issues faced by boards, citing this as a key reason for his hiring.
Virjee himself expressed his commitment to the role, stating that engaged and committed boards can be pillars of strength for their institutions. This sentiment was echoed by AGB, which views his appointment as a significant step forward in its mission to support and strengthen higher education governance.
Framroze M. Virjee assumes the presidency of AGB, bringing his extensive experience in higher education governance and law. His appointment signals AGB's commitment to supporting and strengthening boards, a critical aspect of institutional success.
