Celebrating 15 Years of Berufspatenprojekt's Success: Supporting Young and Disadvantaged Individuals

The AGiL organization's Berufspatenprojekt, which has been a beacon of hope for young and disadvantaged individuals with migration or refugee backgrounds, recently celebrated its 15th anniversary. The celebration, held at the Sandershaus in Kassel, was an opportunity to reflect on the project's achievements and look forward to its future.

The Berufspatenprojekt, initially funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation and since 2011 by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, has been instrumental in providing professional expertise and life experience to help young individuals transition from school to jobs. This year alone, 400 students have participated in mock job interview training sessions, a service that has seen increasing demand.

The project, which extends beyond professional orientation, also offers "Fit for Job Interviews" training sessions. Mentors in the Berufspatenprojekt, who play a crucial role in the project, participate in these sessions to ensure they are equipped to provide the best possible support. The role of a mentor requires significant life experience, openness, and empathy. Currently, the project boasts 45 volunteers, each of whom was honoured during the celebration.

The First Deputy District Administrator, Silke Engler, thanked the volunteers for their tireless efforts, patience, and dedication. She expressed admiration for their passion and their role in accompanying young people into their professional world. Engler also highlighted that since 2010, around 3,300 mock job interviews have been conducted in cooperation with local schools.

The Berufspatenprojekt, since 2008, has realized around 300 mentorships, known as 'tandems'. As the project continues to grow, it is seeking new volunteers, preferably with a background in crafts or health and care. Further information about volunteering can be obtained from project coordinator Brigitte Vogler at the provided contact information.

Despite the project manager's name not being publicly available, the impact of the Berufspatenprojekt in the district of Kassel is undeniable. The project has been a vital resource for many young individuals, providing them with the tools and confidence they need to navigate the job market and build successful careers. As it moves forward, the Berufspatenprojekt continues to make a significant difference in the lives of those it serves.
