Arnsberg & Meschede Launch Inter-Municipal Youth Art School

Arnsberg and Meschede are set to expand their cultural education landscape with the establishment of an inter-municipal youth art school. The 'Jugendkunstschule kunsthaus alte muhle e.V.' from Schmallenberg, led by Beate Herrmann, is supporting the founding phase. The project is funded for three years by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia and supported by the Förderkreis Kunst und Kultur Kloster Wedinghausen e. V.

The youth art school will offer decentralized programmes through networking local artists instead of a fixed location. Interested artists and cultural educators from Arnsberg, Meschede, Sundern, and surrounding areas have expressed interest and can participate until 2025. The 'Jugendkunstschule kunsthaus alte muhle e.V.' is coordinating the project and can be contacted at 02972 98 94 216 or [email protected].

This year, networking activities will commence with Beate Herrmann visiting artists and facilities in the involved cities. The art mobile, or KUMO, will be used to bring the idea of the youth art school to city centers and districts, with eight KUMOs available, four in each city. Interested parties can invite the art mobile and develop a 30-hour cultural interactive offer for children and young people.

The first offers of the youth art school will be developed next year based on a pedagogical concept involving various facilities and artists. The project aims to create a vibrant cultural education landscape, fostering artistic talent and engagement in the region.
