Audio Innovation Takes Center Stage at Duke Kunshan University
Duke Kunshan University, a research-oriented educational institution located in Kunshan, China, has implemented Sennheiser's TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC 2) audio system as part of its phase two hybrid learning and remote conferencing setup. This intelligent ceiling microphone array, designed for professional meeting environments, offers several key features and benefits.
The TCC 2 employs advanced beamforming technology to automatically detect and track active speakers within a room, enhancing voice pickup and reducing background noise for crystal-clear audio capture. This technology ensures that every participant, whether in-person or remote, is heard clearly.
The TCC 2 also supports Dante audio networking, allowing seamless high-quality audio transmission over IP networks. This integration simplifies scalability and integration with existing AV infrastructures, making it an ideal solution for large-scale projects such as Duke Kunshan University's phase two deployment, which involves 22 buildings, 29 classrooms, 20 conference rooms, and a visitor's center.
Mounted in the ceiling, the microphone array covers large spaces uniformly, avoiding the common issues of handheld or table microphones such as handling noise or limited range. The system also supports secure communication protocols and centralized management through Sennheiser Control Cockpit, enabling IT teams to monitor, configure, and troubleshoot remotely.
The TCC 2 is Microsoft Teams Rooms certified, ensuring smooth interoperability with Teams and other leading unified communication (UC) systems. This certified compatibility is crucial for hybrid learning and remote conferencing environments, such as those found at Duke Kunshan University.
Wan, from Duke Kunshan University, developed a fully digital and distributed AV-over-IP architecture for the campus, based on Dante, which integrates TCC 2 and other audio equipment. The university's phase two audio-video system project took three years from design to complete implementation.
Sennheiser provided comprehensive technical and training support, contributing greatly to the progress and success of the project. Wan expressed satisfaction with the Sennheiser team's role in the project and looks forward to continuing collaboration for future development plans.
The TCC 2 offers exceptional hybrid learning experiences, characterized by superior sound quality and efficient setup. It is certified for use with numerous mainstream video conferencing platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Tencent Meeting, and DingTalk Meeting.
Duke Kunshan University provides an inclusive and multicultural environment for students from around the world. This implementation in Duke Kunshan University’s second phase aids in elevating their classroom and conference room experience with reliable, professional-grade audio capturing that ensures all participants are heard clearly, facilitating active engagement in hybrid learning and remote collaboration.
