Community Development Halton to Reveal Youth Volunteering Barriers on July 30

Community Development Halton is hosting a crucial meeting on July 30, 2025, to discuss the challenges faced by youth in local volunteering. The event, part of the Youth Engagement Research Project, aims to shed light on the obstacles preventing the mandatory 40-hour volunteering program from achieving its intended outcomes.

Ontario's requirement for high school students to complete 40 hours of volunteer work has not yielded the expected results. To understand why, youth researchers aged 14-24 have been investigating the barriers young people face when it comes to community volunteering. On July 30, these dedicated researchers will present their findings at a zoom meeting organized by Community Development Halton. While the specific youth researchers presenting are not yet disclosed, their insights are eagerly awaited.

The upcoming zoom meeting promises to provide valuable insights into why the mandatory volunteering program has not achieved its goals. By understanding the challenges youth face, stakeholders can work together to make local volunteering more accessible and appealing to young people in the community.
