Completed Primary Schools Count in Gießen-West

Gießen-West Elementary School, a full-day elementary school since 1971, has completed the renovation of its main building. This significant modernization project, which began some time ago, has culminated in a modern and child-friendly learning environment.

Councilwoman Astrid Eibelshäuser and Councilman Francesco Arman inaugurated the first part of the building, marking the start of the renovation journey. The project was focused on retaining the existing structure, with a special emphasis on sustainability and preserving "gray energy."

The sports hall of the school was previously renovated, and the outdoor areas have been completely redesigned. The new layout features an atrium serving as a green classroom, providing a unique learning space for students. The courtyards offer ample space for playing, moving, and discovering.

Inside the renovated main building, children will find bright classrooms arranged in learning clusters, designed around open forums for group work, creative projects, or individual support. A new library has been included in the renovation, enriching the pedagogical daily life of Gießen-West Elementary School.

The renovated school buildings are equipped with modern technology, ensuring that students have access to the latest educational tools. A new cafeteria was built, which is also open to the neighborhood, fostering a sense of community.

The renovation of the main building involved rebuilding it down to the basic structure and updating it for energy efficiency and technology. This meticulous approach ensures that the school will continue to serve its students effectively for years to come.

The completed renovation is an important contribution to climate protection. With the new full-day care area provided for the students, the school is now set to accommodate approximately 420 students starting from the new school year.

The renovation of the main building is the final part of a comprehensive modernization project for the school. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the continued success and growth of Gießen-West Elementary School.
