Concert led by Unimas Chancellor delayed

The University Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Chancellor Concert, originally scheduled for January 15, has been rescheduled to January 23 due to unforeseeable circumstances. The event, which will take place at the new State Legislative Assembly complex (DUN), promises an evening of diverse music performances and is being held as a token of appreciation to the Head of State, Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin, for his significant contribution towards the development of Unimas.

Dato Mahadzir Lokman will host the event, while music students and lecturers from the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts will perform a variety of genres, including classical, experimental, contemporary, traditional, 'keroncong', and modern pop. A special guest, Bob AF, is expected to make an appearance, and the evening will also welcome the presence of Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is the pro-chancellor of Unimas, and his wife. Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajah Norkiah, the wife of the Head of State, is also expected to attend.

Tickets for the charity concert are available for purchase through the purchasing of tables, with prices ranging from RM2,000 for the Blue category to RM7,000 for the Gold category. The proceeds from the dinner tables sold for the concert will be donated to selected charitable organizations and the welfare fund of staff and students at Unimas.

For further information, the concert promotion committee can be contacted at 017-4451395 or via email at [email protected]. However, the exact cause for the postponement of the event from January 15 to January 23 is not publicly detailed in available sources. For the most accurate information, it would be best to check an official Unimas announcement or contact the university directly.

Education and self-development are of significant importance at the University Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), as demonstrated by the diverse music performances at the Chancellor Concert. The concert, a token of appreciation for the Head of State's contribution towards Unimas' development, includes music students and lecturers from the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts offering a range of genres, such as classical, experimental, contemporary, traditional, 'keroncong', and modern pop.
