The Lawrence Hall of Science, nestled on the campus of UC Berkeley, has unveiled a captivating new exhibit - the Future of Food. This exhibit takes visitors on a journey through the science and technology revolutionising the way we produce and sustain our food.

The Future of Food offers an engaging experience for both adults and children, featuring interactive games and movement-based activities. Topics covered range from bioengineering and agricultural robots to the human microbiome and aquaculture, providing a comprehensive look at the future of food production and sustainability.

One section of the exhibit focuses on the environmental benefits of eating insects for protein, while another highlights the work of Berkeley's program with the local Ohlone people, showcasing the rich cultural ties between food and tradition. However, despite the exhibit's focus on food, it does not offer edible samples or themed menus, such as seaweed, oysters, or soybeans.

The exhibit also emphasises the role of scientists, nonprofit leaders, and community members in shaping the future of food. It encourages visitors to reflect on the impact of innovation and environmental concerns on agriculture and food sustainability.

In addition to the exhibit, the Lawrence Hall of Science does have a dining room, but it is not used for exhibit-themed menus. Instead, the museum's gift shop offers a chocolate-covered cricket kit for particularly adventurous kids.
