Cuba, Vietnam Boost Academic Ties in Medical Tech and Renewables
Cuba and Vietnam strengthen academic ties as Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of Cuba's National Assembly, visited Ho Chi Minh City on October 3. The trip focused on boosting cooperation between Cuban and Vietnamese universities, particularly in medical technology and renewable energy.
Lazo praised Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) for its work in renewable energy, hydrogen, and digital infrastructure. He acknowledged Vietnam's fundraising campaign that collected over 14 million US dollars to support Cuba's solar energy needs. During his visit, Lazo explored HCMUTE's advanced training in science-technology and smart agriculture.
HCMUTE's Chairwoman Trương Thị Hiền proposed cooperation with Cuban universities in student and lecturer exchanges, research, technology transfer, and international forums. She expressed hope for support in developing medical technology. Cuban universities are expected to assist in developing industrial groups in medical technology, exchanging knowledge, and fostering collaborative programs. The 'sunshine without border' programme has deepened bilateral ties and strengthened connections between Ho Chi Minh City and Cuban localities.
Esteban Lazo Hernández's visit has opened avenues for enhanced academic cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam. Both nations look forward to collaborative programs in medical technology, renewable energy, and other fields, building on the 65-year relationship between the two countries.
