The Customs Academy (Zoll-Akademie) is set to welcome a new group of trainees on September 1, 2026, as they embark on their journey to become customs inspectors. This was announced by the Main Customs Office Erfurt, with details available at www.zoll.de.

On the same date last year, 25 customs officers began their training at the Main Customs Office Erfurt, as part of a nationwide intake of around 1,700 young people into the Customs Service. This year, the academy will be training more, with 19 trainees starting a two-year program for future senior customs secretaries in the middle service, and 6 trainees starting a three-year program for future customs inspectors in the higher service.

Dana Schleußinger, head of the Main Customs Office Erfurt, welcomed the new trainees in a ceremony, with 11 women and 14 men beginning their journey. During their practical phases, trainees will rotate through various departments of the Main Customs Office.

Theoretical training for the middle service will take place at the Customs School in Erfurt, while theoretical training for the higher service will occur at the Federal Higher Education Institution in Münster.

Interested candidates can apply for training or a degree program with the Customs Service until October 15, 2025. For more information on application, training, and study, visit www.zoll-karriere.de.

Press inquiries can be directed to Main Customs Office Erfurt, Carlito Klaus at 0361 60176-109 or [email protected]. The Customs Service emphasizes that it employs all suitable young talent.

For those who missed the application deadline, the Customs Service encourages them to keep an eye on future opportunities, as the academy continues to provide valuable training and education for future customs officers.
