Departments of Education collaborate on nutrition initiative, with focus on providing meals
In a bid to improve the nutrition and academic performance of undernourished pupils in public schools, Lubao Councilor Jayson Pineda Victorino has launched a new initiative called "Oplan Lusog Lakas." This program is designed to provide supplemental feeding to students in need, in support of the Department of Education's (DepEd) feeding program.
The "Oplan Lusog Lakas" program is a commitment of Councilor Victorino and his office, as well as the Pineda family, to assist students in the town. The initiative aims to address malnutrition and promote better health and learning outcomes among students in the community.
Councilor Victorino, who chairs the town council Committee on Education, recently visited San Vicente Elementary School, San Vicente National High School, and Dau High School to oversee the launch of the program. He turned over rice, food supplements, multivitamins, and medical kits for the current year to the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP).
DepEd officials have confirmed that the SBFP program adheres to the approved menu cycle set by the central office, ensuring that meals meet at least one-third of a child's daily nutrition requirements. The program is part of Councilor Victorino's broader commitment to support the DepEd's efforts to address the nutritional needs of undernourished pupils in public schools.
Councilor Victorino plans to provide assistance to all students of the town in the coming days. He also intends to visit other public schools to check on the status of the SBFP in those areas. The assistance provided by Victorino's office, part of the "Oplan Lusog Lakas" program, is intended to help pupils in public schools, with a focus on improving their nutritional status and academic performance.
