NEET-UG 2025 Score Release Sparks Controversy: Students Assert Power Outage at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF-Avadi, Chennai Due to Severe Weather Conditions

dispatch of NEET-UG 2025 results suspended due to alleged power disruptions at the Chennai assessment center.

In the hot seat right now, the Madras High Court has halted the release of NEET-UG-2025 results following a plea from several students who experienced a power outage at their exam center in Chennai.

On a stormy day, the power was knocked out at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF-Avadi for a solid hour and a half—from 3 PM to 4:15 PM on May 4, 2025. The students, who made up the majority of this unlucky bunch, claimed that not only were they forced to write the test under harsh conditions, but rainwater also invaded the exam hall, causing even more disruption.

Thirteen students pooled their resources, sharing their dismay in an affidavit. They alleged that there weren't any backup facilities, like generators or inverters, to keep the power flowing. This left them scrambling to complete their exams under wretched conditions.

These test-takers argue they were dealt a subpar exam experience compared to their fellow candidates at other centers, a clear violation of Article 14. They also claim their right to life and liberty, as stated in Article 21, were infringed upon.

A national-level exam like NEET should guarantee a level playing field, but these petitioners allege it failed them. Despite their timely representations on May 4 and follow-up efforts, they claim the authorities have turned a deaf ear to their genuine concerns. The respondents include the union government, National Medical Commission, and the National Testing Agency that conducts NEET.

The next hearing is set for June 2, and the students are pushing for re-evaluation or an alternative assessment to ensure a fair outcome. The incident emphasizes the importance of solid infrastructure and swift resolution mechanisms during high-stakes national exams, not just in Chennai but across the nation.

In a strikingly similar case out of Indore, the Madhya Pradesh High Court also paused NEET-UG results due to power outages at an exam center—further proving the need for change.

In the aftermath of the power outage incident at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF-Avadi, debate has ensued regarding the infrastructure and fairness of exam conditions in education-and-self-development. This debate has extended beyond the Chennai exam center to include politics, as the Madhya Pradesh High Court also halted NEET-UG results due to power outages in Indore, highlighting the need for general-news coverage and systemic changes to prevent such occurrences.
