Celebrating 80 Years of Victory: A Tribute to Heroes in Yekaterinburg's Academic District

The Academic District of Yekaterinburg is buzzing with spirit as they commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. The main event, the "Generations Parade," took place in Preobrazhensky Park, featuring children and schoolchildren, including cadets from the "Yunarmia."

In honor of this significant milestone, residents and guests of the district were treated to a thematic concert prepared by Akademik's creative collectives. A day early, on May 8th, the Academic District joins the city's main platforms for the unforgettable celebrations on the 9th. This annual tradition is supported by the leading developer of the district, AO SZ "RSG-Akademicheskoe," part of the KORTROS Group.

In 2015, an alley of 70 birch trees was planted in Akademik, symbolizing the ongoing legacy of military glory in Russia. A Peace Monument, composed of two white doves holding a St. George's ribbon, stands proud on this victorious walkway.

This year, the Victory Alley was tastefully decorated with flags bearing the names of 12 hero cities and one fortress. Yekaterinburg celebrates Victory Day like no other, having been home to hundreds of families of servicemen since 2009.

Reflecting On the Past, Embracing the Present

The 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is a significant moment for Russia, representing unity, courage, and the memory of those who fought for freedom. As we remember our heroes, we pause to appreciate the sacrifices they made, their unbreakable spirit, and the eternal bond between times and generations in our country.

"This Victory Day, we honor the veterans who made our country victorious in the distant 1945. Though 80 years have passed, their stories remain imprinted in the annals of history, in the faces of our veterans, and in the hearts of our children––a symbol of our shared heritage," emphasized the general director of AO SZ "RSG-Akademicheskoe," Sergei Lantsev.

While sources are sparse on specific activities in the Academic District, Yekaterinburg as a whole is hosting a range of commemorative activities. Among these is a large-scale exhibition of captured NATO military equipment in Mayakovsky Central Park, showcasing the resilience and bravery of Russian servicemen in recent conflicts. This exhibition, which runs from May 1 to the ongoing Victory Day celebrations, is sure to draw significant attention.
