Events scheduled for the open house and the day providing snacks
The vocational colleges in the Herford district are inviting prospective students to explore their educational offerings during open door days on November 7th and 8th.
On Saturday, 08.11., the Wilhelm-Normann-Berufskolleg, Anna-Siemsen-Berufskolleg, and Friedrich-List-Berufskolleg will open their doors from 9 to 12 o'clock at Hermannstraße 5, 9, and 7, respectively, in Herford. The Erich-Gutenberg-Berufskolleg will host its open day on Friday, 07.11., from 13 to 17 o'clock at Wedekindstraße 30-38, Bünde.
During these open days, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the diverse educational programs available. These range from acquiring or expanding professional knowledge in fields such as social assistance, building technical assistance, and higher commercial school, to more specialized programs in areas like construction, fashion, IT, and design.
The Erich-Gutenberg-Berufskolleg, for instance, offers an educational focus in Economy and Administration. The Anna-Siemsen-Berufskolleg, on the other hand, provides educational focuses in Health and Sport, Education and Social, Supply and Nutrition, Design, and Dual Training. The Wilhelm-Normann-Berufskolleg offers educational focuses in Design, Construction and Wood, Agriculture and Nutrition.
Schools in the Herford region offering dual education collaborate mainly in social work and public administration fields, with examples including dual studies for Verwaltungsinspektoranwärter (administrative inspector trainees) and social work apprenticeships. Notably, dual study programs like Verwaltungsfachangestellte with local government entities such as Stadt Minden are examples nearby, and social work training opportunities exist in Herford.
The vocational colleges are established partners in dual training for numerous companies, not only within the Herford district. They provide job-relevant knowledge and skills to prepare students for their future careers.
For those who wish to experience the educational offerings firsthand, trial days will be held between November 24th and 27th. During these trial days, students can participate in classes to get a concrete impression of the educational offerings. Registration for the trial days can be done through schools or independently on the respective websites of the vocational colleges.
It's worth noting that teaching at the August-Griese-Berufskolleg in Löhne will continue on-site without interruption during the planned construction work for the new building, which is expected to begin at the end of 2026.
The vocational colleges offer continuous and interconnected educational programs, ranging from the first school-leaving certificate to the professional Abitur. They are committed to providing quality education that meets the needs of the regional economy.
Whether you're considering a career change or looking to further your education, the open door days offer a great opportunity to explore the vocational colleges in the Herford district. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this chance and visit the colleges to learn more about the educational programs they have to offer.
