Gathering of young circus artists on the Black Sea coast occurs in Krasnodar Territory
In its fourth iteration, the All-Russian Children's Center "Smena" is hosting the "Road to the Circus" project. Initiated three years ago as a festival, the program this year aims to delve deeper into the world of circus arts.
A total of 120 gifted participants from circus studios in 16 regions have been part of this year's program. The schedule for these young artists is packed, with a prime focus on unexplored territories: the backstage professions essential to the smooth running of a circus. These roles, including riggers, assistants, inspectors, lighting and sound technicians, makeup artists, and others, ensure the show continues off-stage. This year, 25 children will gain insights into these roles behind the curtain.
The remaining 95 aspiring circus performers will venture further into honing their skills, aiming for the upcoming festival on June 13 and 14, followed by an awards ceremony and a gala concert on June 15.
Post these events, the "Road to the Circus" project will proceed to two other significant venues: the International Children's Center "Artek" and the All-Russian Children's Center "Aлые Паруса" (Alye Parusa).
The "Road to the Circus" project serves as a nurturing ground for children's creative expression and skill development in circus arts. By engaging participants in both performance and behind-the-scenes roles, the project aims to foster a comprehensive understanding and experience of circus production.
The project is structured to provide children with opportunities to explore various aspects of circus art, promoting a diverse skill set. Through hands-on experience, participants gain valuable insights into stage management, technical support, costume design, and other production roles.
"Road to the Circus" at "Smena" serves as a stepping stone for participants, offering them a platform to showcase their skills and performances at subsequent events in esteemed centers like "Artek" and "Aлые Паруса." These subsequent events serve as celebrations for the refined performances developed during the initial project.
This progression supports the development of well-rounded young performers and technicians in the circus arts, providing them with a holistic understanding and experience in the field.
- The "Road to the Circus" project at the All-Russian Children's Center "Smena" not only focuses on enhancing children's circus performance skills but also delves into education-and-self-development by offering insights into backstage professions, contributing to a comprehensive lifestyle in circus arts.
