Grads of Career Program Complete Their Studies in January and February of 2022

In an exciting development, a group of dedicated students have recently graduated from various career certificate programmes at several institutions. These programmes, specialising in fields such as Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Marketing Design, and Multimedia Arts, have equipped these individuals with the necessary skills to embark on their creative careers.

Among the graduates, Ashley Royster has completed the Graphic Design Professional Certificate, Melissa Harmon and Kelvyn Perez the Digital Arts Professional Certificate, Joshua Mitchell the Multimedia Arts Professional Certificate, and Elizabeth Mrozinski the Graphic Design Advanced Certificate. Additionally, Sage Nuessle, Cassandra Robinson, Lorraine Santa Lucia, Rebecca Wilcox Gwynne, Desiree Prime, and Katerina Tsantili have also completed their respective programmes.

The graduation ceremony, held this week, was a celebration of the students' achievements and a testament to their hard work and dedication. The graduates are now venturing forth into their creative careers, armed with the skills and knowledge they have gained from their programmes.

The Graphic Design Certificate, for instance, focuses on layout, typography, image preparation, print production, and visual communication. It requires approximately 18 credits and prepares students to create professional-level portfolios. Careers in this field include design firms, commercial illustration, corporate design, and trade show display. The programme also includes training in design aesthetics, visual messaging, and the presentation of visual solutions.

The Digital Art & Design Foundation Certificate, on the other hand, prepares students for employment in Arts, Media, and Entertainment. It covers animation, 3D modeling, VFX, and game development. The programme requires a minimum of 12 units at El Camino College, with an emphasis on the fundamentals of digital art and design, assessed by portfolios and projects.

The Digital Design Certificate Program, offered by Noble Desktop, builds on graphic design skills with digital design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and digital UX/UI tools (Figma, Adobe XD). It focuses on creating graphic assets optimised for web and digital platforms. The programme is designed for those interested in digital design careers, including designing webpages and interfaces without coding.

Finally, the Graphic & Web Design Certificates, offered at institutions like UCSD Extension, develop skills in graphic and web design, art direction, branding, and digital marketing. The programme focuses on transforming ideas into digital impacts through creative strategy and design principles.

Regarding Marketing Design specifically, although not explicitly detailed in the documents, courses in digital marketing and creative strategy linked with graphic/web design certificates suggest relevant training in marketing-oriented design.

In summary, these career certificate programmes have provided these students with the necessary skills to excel in their respective fields. The graduation ceremony was a celebration of their accomplishments and a stepping stone into their creative careers. As Anatole France once said, "To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe." These graduates have not only acted and planned but have also dreamt and believed, and we congratulate them on their achievements.

Ashley Royster, Melissa Harmon, Kelvyn Perez, Joshua Mitchell, Elizabeth Mrozinski, Sage Nuessle, Cassandra Robinson, Lorraine Santa Lucia, Rebecca Wilcox Gwynne, Desiree Prime, and Katerina Tsantili have honed their graphic design and digital art skills through programs that offer education and self-development, paving the way for their career development in design firms, commercial illustration, corporate design, trade show display, animation, 3D modeling, VFX, game development, web design, and marketing design. The graduates embark on these creative careers equipped with knowledge in design aesthetics, visual messaging, presentation of visual solutions, digital art and design fundamentals, digital UX/UI tools, and marketing-oriented design.
