Graduates of Teach for Qazaqstan mark the inaugural class, extending their reach to three additional regions.
In a significant development for the education sector in Kazakhstan, Teach for Qazaqstan, an initiative aimed at fostering quality teaching and learning, is expanding its operations to new regions. The program, which was initially active in the Karagandy region, will now extend its reach to Pavlodar, Kostanai, and Aktobe, as announced by Gulnara Salmen, the CEO of Teach for Qazaqstan.
This expansion is a testament to the program's growth and success beyond its initial area of operation. Teach for Qazaqstan, originally founded to address educational challenges in rural schools of the Karagandy Region, has demonstrated its impact in a meaningful way. The initiative's graduation ceremony on June 21 marked the successful completion of a two-year teaching placement for its first cohort of 22 teachers.
The program's reach extends beyond geographical boundaries. Supported financially by organisations like Freedom Holding Corp., Teach for Qazaqstan provides teachers with master classes, seminars, and specialized training modules. This comprehensive approach to educational development aims to improve teaching quality across Kazakhstan.
Wendy Kopp, CEO and co-founder of Teach for All, attended the first graduation event in Kazakhstan. She praised the team and graduates for their tireless efforts in building a system that serves children and empowers them to shape a better future. Kopp emphasized that if Teach for Qazaqstan continues to grow its cohorts, it will add up to the collective leadership needed in the education system.
Gulnara Salmen, the CEO of Teach for Qazaqstan, emphasized the need for leaders who understand the education system from the inside, including rural areas. She described Teach for Qazaqstan as a program that desires and strives for systemic change. Salmen stated that the program prepares future leaders for the education system, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to drive positive change.
The impact of the Teach for Qazaqstan program is demonstrated by its results. Each participant, on a daily basis, impacted at least 120 students in the Karagandy Region, indirectly working with more than 6,000 children in nine schools. Some participants even impacted as many as 305-350 students.
Teach for Qazaqstan is part of the Teach for All educational movement, which operates in 60 countries. The program's expansion into new regions is a significant step towards its goal of improving education outcomes across Kazakhstan. As it continues to grow, Teach for Qazaqstan is poised to make a lasting impact on the education system, empowering teachers, and shaping the future of Kazakhstan's children.
