Group Gathering Held at School Belonging to Claw House Association
On August 14, 2025, A/C School hosted the One Claw House Party, a back-to-school celebration that brought together the school community and beyond. The event marked the start of the academic year, as well as the sorting of seventh graders into their houses for the upcoming school year.
The new gym at A/C School, a gem for the community, was decorated with a neutral gray background to tone down the bright light. This modern facility served as the perfect setting for the festivities, with a large crowd of community members in attendance.
Building Unity, Character, and Healthy Competition
The House System at A/C School is designed to foster unity, inspire character, and promote healthy competition. It connects students across different grade levels and backgrounds into six distinct houses, collectively known as One Claw. The system includes mentorship opportunities where upper-grade house members serve as mentors for younger students, fostering leadership and teamwork.
House Koa: A Hawaiian Haven
One of the two new elementary houses introduced in 2025 is House Koa. With a Hawaiian theme, House Koa is characterised by elements such as grass shirts and leis during events. The supervisors for House Koa are teachers Alicia Auzqui, Mandi Buchanan, and Samantha Grubb. House Koa is affiliated with the Beowulf, Herculean, and Fiducia houses.
House Meraki: A Pillar of the House System
House Meraki, another new addition to the House System, is part of the Indomitus, Tapferkeit, and Iaspis houses. While specific details about Meraki’s theme or unique elements are not provided, it follows the broader House System’s goals of unity and character development.
A Celebratory Atmosphere
The One Claw House Party offered a lively atmosphere, with music by DJ Mike Guyer and food prepared by Superintendent Chase Christensen. The event also unveiled a new painting on the gym walls, featuring each house crest and sports stats, further emphasising the school's commitment to its House System.
The One Claw House Party was more than just a back-to-school celebration; it was a testament to the strong sense of community at A/C School and the positive impact of the House System. Teachers Amanda Andreen, Misty McTaggert, and Isolina Nimick, along with Chloe Mauck and House head Skye Malli, were thrilled about the cub house system and the opportunities it provides for students to grow and thrive.
At A/C School, the House System, anchored by House Koa with its Hawaiian theme and House Meraki, strives to promote unity, character development, and healthy competition, acting as a foundation for the broader school community.
