Halton School Board Calls for Collaboration on Ontario Education

Amy Collard, Chair of the Halton District School Board, penned a letter on September 24, 2025, to the Premier, Minister of Education Paul Calandra, and other key stakeholders. The letter, signed by Collard and supported by the board's Trustees, seeks collaboration to address systemic issues and achieve consistency in Ontario's public education.

The Halton District School Board Trustees, who have served communities since 1816, unanimously voted for this resolution on September 16. They oversee local school boards and support the Ministry of Education in implementing provincial curricula and strategies. In their letter, they invite the Minister to work together to identify solutions and reach province-wide consistency.

Trustees engage with stakeholders, respond to parents' concerns, and support students and families in navigating the education system. The resolution requests public consultation before any changes are made to the Education Act regarding the role of Trustees. This consultation aims to ensure that the voices of communities and families are heard in shaping the future of Ontario's public education.

The letter from Amy Collard and the Halton District School Board Trustees highlights their commitment to working with the Minister of Education and other stakeholders to improve public education in Ontario. The proposed public consultation underscores their dedication to involving communities in decisions that affect their children's education.
