Health School Title Granted to Erich-Kästner-Comprehensive School
The district health department has recognised several schools for their commitment to health promotion and prevention, as part of the 'Healthy Schools in the Wittekind Circle' programme.
The award, presented annually, honours schools that have implemented health-promoting measures and initiatives for both students and teaching staff. This year, the Erich-Kästner-Comprehensive School in Kirchlengern and Bünde, along with primary schools in Westerenger and Löhne-Obernbeck, and the Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg in Herford, were among the recipients.
Last year, the Heinrich-von-Kleist-Schule in Kirchlengern received a special award for its implementation of the 'Healthy School Center in Wittekind District' program.
The 'Healthy Schools in the Wittekind Circle' programme, supported by the district health department for nine years, places a strong emphasis on health promotion and prevention. Schools that receive the award have demonstrated their dedication by implementing at least one health-promoting measure and one measure for the health of teaching staff during the project period.
Dr. Isabell Schultheis, the head of the district health department, emphasised the importance of schools in promoting health among children and young people. She was present at the award ceremony, which took place at the Erich-Kästner-Comprehensive School. Renata Lleshi, the project manager, accompanied Dr. Schultheis during the presentation.
The Erich-Kästner-Comprehensive School in Kirchlengern and Bünde has recently implemented various measures related to dental health, sexuality, alcohol consumption, mental health, and smoking behaviour with the support of external specialists. These initiatives are particularly beneficial for students during stressful learning phases.
Pascal Kramer, a sports scientist and trainer in the 'link moves' program, attended the certification at the Erich-Kästner-Comprehensive School. Mr. Kramer led students through exercises that improved coordination and concentration, enhancing their learning ability and motivation.
