iMentor's Impact: Two-Thirds of Mentees Outpace Peers in College Progression
iMentor, a non-profit organisation, has been recognised for its significant impact on college board progression rates among its mentees. The organisation, which provides mentorship to students, has seen two-thirds of its 2023 cohort and the previous two cohorts progress to their third semester at higher rates than their peers. iMentor is now expanding its reach and partnerships to support more students. iMentor is set to collaborate with various schools, colleges, and community organisations to broaden its support network. The organisation has already partnered with The City University of New York (CUNY), mentoring network Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), and an independent school. Dr. Heather D. Wathington, CEO at iMentor, emphasises the importance of mentorship, especially in uncertain times, to create a more equitable future. By the 2025-26 academic year, iMentor aims to reach 9,000 students across ten states. This expansion is made possible through partnerships with organisations such as Communities In Schools, College Forward, and DreamWakers. Michael O'Teter, Chief Program Officer at BBBS Lone Star, commends iMentor's efforts for filling persistent opportunity gaps and building social networks. iMentor's success has been recognised globally. The organisation has been nominated for the ETIH Innovation Awards 2026, celebrating excellence in global education technology. The awards, open to organisations across the UK, the Americas, and internationally, will be announced on 14 January 2026. iMentor's innovative approach to mentorship and its commitment to supporting students make it a strong contender for this prestigious award.
