India Boosts STEM Education to Drive Innovation and Growth

India's commitment to science, technology, and innovation is evident in its robust educational ecosystem. The country boasts 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and numerous other institutions. To foster innovation, the Government of India has launched initiatives like the Atal Innovation Mission and Atal Tinkering Labs, promoting skills such as design mindset and computational thinking among school students.

The integration of latest gadgets in STEM education offers an engaging, gamified experience, sparking students' interest in coding, robotics, and engineering. Emerging technologies like AI, ML, Robotics, and IoT are transforming society and finding applications in various sectors. However, women's participation in STEM remains low, with only 12% of women scientists and 25% of technology sector positions held by women.

The success of Indian space missions is generating interest among students in related areas. The space sector is opening up to private industry, creating new opportunities. The Government has launched the Indian Science, Technology and Engineering facilities Map (I-STEM), an interactive portal hosting scientific programs and R&D facilities. With the third largest startup ecosystem in the world, India is focusing on creating a skilled workforce through STEM education to drive innovation and growth.
