Announcing the MINT Experience Day: Bridging the Gap Between Education and Industry

The Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH) is inviting school classes to register for the MINT Experience Day, an event that offers a unique opportunity for young people to explore the world of Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Technology (MINT). This event is not only open to registered classes, but also to those without registration, making it accessible to a wider audience.

The MINT Experience Day is designed to foster interaction between companies and young people through mini-MINT experiments and small interactive activities. This event is part of the NachwuchsCampus project, which aims to assist MINT subject teachers and career guidance teachers in building a bridge for comprehensive MINT career guidance.

The NachwuchsCampus project values the collaboration with companies, and interested parties can contact Ina Klose at [email protected] to connect a STEM class with presentations of company training professions and career images. Ina Klose is a contact person at TUHH who plays a crucial role in connecting schools with the MINT industry.

Dr. Johannes Landwehr, a chemistry teacher at the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium, is currently representing two chemistry classes at the NachwuchsCampus. He reported that it is enjoyable to inspire young people for MINT fields in an interdisciplinary manner with an engaged faculty. The MINT Experience Day is a platform that allows Dr. Landwehr and other MINT teachers to share their passion for these fields with the next generation.

Many MINT teachers apply annually to the NachwuchsCampus project, eager to explore the world of companies and MINT fields. The greatest spark of enthusiasm for MINT fields can be ignited through the connection of MINT teachers and people who work or research in the MINT area and are passionate about these topics.

The MINT Experience Day will take place on June 19, 2024, from 10:30 to 13:00, in the main building (A) of the Technical University of Hamburg. The event aims to make the enthusiasm for MINT professions tangible, providing an immersive experience that goes beyond theoretical teachings.

The NachwuchsCampus was presented at the digital 6th state conference for career guidance teachers on February 15, 2024. Dr. Johannes Landwehr, who was the guest and idea provider at the conference, encouraged BO teachers to integrate career guidance into subject lessons in cooperation with MINT teachers. This collaboration is valued by MINT teachers as it allows young people to see the practical applications of their theoretical teachings.

The MINT acronym stands for Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Technology. The MINT Experience Day is an excellent opportunity for young people to delve into these fields and discover their potential in these exciting areas.

Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to engage with the MINT industry and ignite a spark of enthusiasm in young minds. Register for the MINT Experience Day today!
