Unleashing Creativity in Health Education:

The fusion of artistry and health consciousness to create dynamic learning experiences for young people is resonating profoundly. This revolutionized approach, bestowed upon the EMPOWER campaign by the 46th Annual Telly Awards, earned it a much-coveted Silver Award for Innovative Video Series. This recent accolade follows the acquisition of a Communicator Award of Excellence earlier in the month, underscoring the campaign's captivating, music-driven approach to asthma education.

The Telly Awards honors video and television excellence across multiple platforms and attracts a panel of judges from top influencers in production, networks, and media outlets. Among this year's impressive lineup of winners are industry giants like Pixar, Hearst, ESPN, LinkedIn, and NASA.

Sara Espinoza, the fearless leader of the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), shares her excitement, stating, "We're thrilled to receive this recognition and more than eager to see EMPOWER expand its reach." This triumph reinforces the boundless potential of creative alliances and the transformative impact of imaginative storytelling on health education.

In March 2023, EMPOWER emerged as a forward-thinking alliance between NEEF and Hip Hop Public Health (HHPH). Using music and animation, EMPOWER transmits crucial, accessible health information to children and families grappling with asthma. The campaign consists of eight unique songs and animation videos, each focusing on an essential aspect of asthma self-management, encapsulated under the acronym EMPOWER: Environment, Medication, Plan, Open communication, Well-being, Extinguish, and Resilience.

Hip Hop Public Health is more than a label—it's an award-winning nonprofit co-founded by Dr. Olajide Williams, an acclaimed neurologist, and Doug E. Fresh, hip hop royalty. Harnessing their unique talents for the common good, they join forces with NEEF to promote health empowerment among young people.

Lindsey Harr, HHPH's Chief Program and Operations Officer, extends her gratitude to the Telly Awards Judging Council and the team at NEEF, saying, "At Hip Hop Public Health, we believe in the Muse-driven power to dismantle barriers, stimulate innovation, and capture the hearts of all communities. Our partnership with NEEF embodies this mission, empowering young people with the knowledge and conviction to assert control over their health."

The Telly Awards' esteemed Judging Council encompasses powerhouses from prominent enterprises like Roku, Patreon, MediaPro, Pluto TV, and BBDO New York.
