Introducing Our Esteemed Advisory Panel

In the realm of energy policy, a distinguished group of experts has recently joined the Advisory Board at Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy. The board, a diverse assembly of professionals, includes Ana Cabral-Gardner, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Lithium, and Cheryl LaFleur, former Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Topsoe, among others.

Ana Cabral-Gardner, apart from her role at Sigma Lithium, is also a co-founder of SEACOR Holdings Inc. and a partner at Veriten. Meanwhile, Cheryl LaFleur has served as an executive in the energy sector and held positions such as Vice Chairman of the Board at Topsoe. The board's expertise spans across energy policy, industry leadership, climate finance, and international development.

The board's role extends to conducting a process called a workplace assessment, which provides valuable insights into current employment trends in their respective fields. This assessment covers software or technical skills that should be on a resume and types of projects that should be in a portfolio.

On a more local scale, our institution has its own Advisory Board, a multi-disciplinary group of veteran artists, designers, and employers. This board, which includes individuals like Natalie La Scala, a Denver-based Media Artist with 20 years of experience in Creative Direction, Project Management, and Higher Education, and Pat Perigo, a photographer and print production professional with over twenty years of experience in gallery and museum management, puts our degree and certificate programs under review annually.

The annual program review aims to find areas for evolution or improvement in our degree and certificate programs. For instance, Alison King, an educator and writer who promotes design education through ModernPhoenix.net, is a member of this Advisory Board. Her expertise in education and design will undoubtedly contribute to the continuous improvement of our programs.

In the creative sphere, we also have Elizabeth Embleton-Smith, an artist, sculptor, writer, and teacher who has worked as a Costume Engineer in theatre, opera, ballet, television, and film for clients including Ballet West, Sundance, Disney/Marvel Studios, Independent Lens, and Warner Bros/Sony Studios.

Moreover, the Advisory Board includes Mike Rider, an animation artist who has worked in films for Fox Animation Studios, DreamWorks, Meatball Studios, and Cartoon Network, and has published five books. His experience in the animation industry will undoubtedly provide valuable insights into the development of our programs.

Lastly, we have Chelsea Winkel, a designer who has assisted over 30 early stage startups with ideation, branding, and business design. Currently, she is a founder and designs for Lifelite.org, an emergency response technology company. Her entrepreneurial spirit and design expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the success of our programs.

In addition, the Advisory Board includes Diana Dunaj-Kullman, the immediate past president of the AAF - Metro Phoenix Ad Club, an approved American Advertising Awards show judge, and the recipient of the "Advertising Person of the Year" award in 2011 by the AAF Metro Phoenix and Ad2 Phoenix clubs.

These esteemed professionals bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to their respective boards, ensuring that our programs remain at the forefront of their respective fields.

The role of the board at Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy encompasses a workplace assessment, which focus on identifying essential software or technical skills for resumes and beneficial types of projects for portfolios, aligning with skills-training and career-development. Our Advisory Board, consisting of veterans in art, design, and employment, also emphasizes education-and-self-development, as evidenced by their contributions to our annual program review for continuous improvement and evolution of degree and certificate programs.
