JAMB Addresses Inundation of Complaints Over 2025 UTME Results Scrutiny
In a statement on Monday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) acknowledged the deluge of unusual complaints it has received following the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. The complaints center around various irregularities in candidate scores, system glitches, and an alarming high rate of poor performance, with 78% of candidates scoring below 200 out of 400, sparking nationwide uproar.
JAMB's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed that the board is conducting a thorough examination of these complaints, particularly the ones originating from several states within the country. To speed up the process, JAMB has accelerated its annual system review, enlisting a team of experts from the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners, measurement experts, Vice Chancellors, and the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa.
If the review uncovers any technical issues, the board assures it will promptly implement remedial measures, which might include rescheduling exams for affected candidates.
"This unusual volume of complaints requires immediate action," said JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, expressing regret for the situation that was supposed to be a joyous moment for many candidates but turned into disappointment due to the errors.
JAMB's swift action and commitment to rectifying any identified issues aim to restore trust in the examination process.
