Kazakhstan Opens Nationwide Textbook Discussion for 2026-2027
The Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan has opened a nationwide online discussion on draft school textbooks for the 2026-2027 academic year. Kazakhstani citizens, educators, parents, and interested parties are invited to participate and share their views until the end of the expert review process.
The discussion focuses on textbooks for grades 4 and 7-10, covering a range of subjects including Kazakh and Russian languages, Mathematics, History, Sciences, and Foreign Languages. These textbooks are currently undergoing pilot testing in 34 schools across the country. After the public discussion, approved textbooks will be recommended for use in secondary schools and included in the ministry's approved list.
The expert review process involves several stages. It begins with scientific-pedagogical expertise, followed by refinement of materials based on expert feedback. Pilot testing then takes place to assess the textbooks' practical application. The public discussion is the next phase, allowing everyone to contribute their thoughts. Finally, a subject expert commission will make a concluding decision based on all the gathered input.
Kazakhstani residents can participate in the public discussion and provide comments or suggestions via the platform https://talqylau.bmso.kz. The approved textbooks will play a crucial role in shaping the education of the next generation, making this discussion an important opportunity for nationwide input.
