Kollnau Secondary School secures victory in consumer education awards
The "Cleverly done!" competition, organised by the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas, and Consumer Protection Baden-Württemberg, has once again honoured schools for their outstanding efforts in promoting consumer competence and media criticism. This year's competition, with the theme "How cleverly advertising is made", saw a variety of schools participating and winning.
The competition, which has been running since 2011, serves as a platform for innovative projects that help students develop critical thinking skills regarding consumer behaviour and media literacy. This year, the Realschule Kollnau and the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium Crailsheim, among others, were recognised for their exceptional work. Schools in Haßmersheim and Bad Rappenau also received awards for their projects.
The Realschule Kollnau's winning project focused on educating students about advertising mechanisms, and was praised for its creativity and relevance to everyday life. The students of classes 9a, 9b, and 9g secured the win. Rüdiger Tonojan MdL, a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament, expressed his admiration for the students' creativity and the relevance of their work.
This year, the "Cleverly done!" competition opened its doors to special needs schools (SBBZ), marking a significant expansion of the competition's reach. The competition aims to enhance consumer education in schools, focusing on practical skills for navigating the complexities of the modern consumer world. Schools that received the award demonstrated exemplary engagement in educating students about responsible consumption, digital literacy, and critical media analysis.
The 2021 "Cleverly done!" consumer education award in Baden-Württemberg is part of a broader initiative to foster early competence in critical thinking and media awareness among young learners.
