Kuwaiti literary figure, Ghalia Al-Enezi, to participate in the 9th Arab Reading Challenge, held in Dubai.
📣 Hooray! It's time to shine a spotlight on Ghalia Al-Enezi, the sensational student from the Capital Educational District who will be representing Kuwait in the ninth Arab Reading Challenge! This event is a big deal, linked to initiatives spearheaded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai.
Ghalia stood head and shoulders above 213,000 fellow competitors and was crowned the top winner in the nationwide race. The grand celebration took place during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Education, honoring 85 students who reached the national finals. Ghalia, in particular, took center stage as the first-place winner.
Various dignitaries joined the festivities, including Mariam Al-Enezi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities, Hamad Al-Mansoori, UAE Embassy Advisor, and Laila Akhzaimi, Assistant Project Manager at the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives Foundation.
Mariam Al-Enezi, representing Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, praised the event. "Today, we celebrate these literacy championswho've bravely waved the banner of learning amidst all obstacles. The Arab Reading Challenge revitalizes our Arab cultural legacy, fostering a passion for knowledge in our youth," she said.
Laila Akhzaimi highlighted the surge in participation from Kuwait, stemming from 15,000 students in the first edition to a staggering 213,000 students currently. She also highlighted the collective effort of 1,515 supervisors from 835 schools across various educational sectors.
During the events, students showed off their achievements from ten different districts and various educational streams. The top ten winners, handpicked from across Kuwait, included - Ghalia Al-Enezi (Capital District) - First Place; Ruqayya Shahab (Hawalli); Hamoud Al-Adwani (Capital); Adnan Al-Atiqi (Capital); Fatima Ali and Shurooq Mohammed (Private Education); Sarah Al-Mutairi (Religious Education - Farwaniya); Youssef Sharif (Hawalli); Hour Al-Khalidi (Capital) and Hiba Allah Amin (Religious Education - Farwaniya).
The Arab Reading Challenge is a global powerhouse in literacy programs, aiming to spark a love of reading among students in grades 1 through 12. With over 32 million students across 50 countries participating, it's one of the biggest literacy initiatives globally, symbolizing the growing commitment to cultivating knowledge and fostering literacy among youth, both regionally and worldwide.
