Local elections result in the renovation of the Youth Aid Committee
The city of Arnsberg is preparing for the election of its Youth Welfare Committee, a body responsible for advising on or deciding on the concerns of children and young people. Here's what you need to know if you're interested in getting involved.
The Youth Welfare Committee consists of council members, individuals experienced in youth welfare, youth associations, and recognized free carriers of youth welfare in the city. To be considered for the committee, a person must have completed their 18th year of life and have been living in Arnsberg for at least three months.
Youth associations and recognized independent youth welfare organizations active in the city can submit proposals for the body of eligible voting members. Each candidate must be submitted together with a personal deputy, who must also meet the same residency requirements as the candidate. The deadline for submitting candidates is October 6, 2025.
The Department of Youth, School, Family, Social, Integration, Health, Frau Haase, provides further information for youth associations and recognized free carriers who wish to propose a person and a personal deputy for the Youth Welfare Committee. This information can be obtained by contacting Frau Haase at s.haase@ourwebsite or Tel. 02932 - 201 1324. The city's website also contains further information under "Official Announcements 2025".
The composition of the Youth Welfare Committee will be determined after the municipal elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in September 2025. Which council members will sit on the committee in the future will be decided by the factions after the election. The council will elect the members of the Youth Welfare Committee in its first meeting after the municipal elections.
Advisory members of the Youth Welfare Committee include representatives from the police, the employment agency, or the family court. The elected members will have the authority to participate in discussions and make decisions regarding the concerns of children and young people in Arnsberg.
It is important to note that a personal deputy must be submitted simultaneously for a candidate to the Youth Welfare Committee. If you're interested in getting involved, we encourage you to contact Frau Haase or your local youth association for more information.
