New Interval ADP Tool Offers Accurate, Timely ICE Detention Data
A new method, Interval Average Daily Population (Interval ADP Login), has been introduced to provide more accurate and timely data on detained population numbers at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities. Developed by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) at Syracuse University, this tool offers a significant improvement over ICE's biweekly detention spreadsheet.
The Interval ADP Login is calculated using ICE detainee custody data and offers facility-level data for every ICE detention center currently in use. This comprehensive table is now available for public use, along with a table of new ICE facilities that appeared recently in the detention spreadsheet. The method is particularly useful for news reporting, policy papers, and other public interest work where both recency and accuracy are crucial.
To illustrate the differences between ICE's Reported ADP and Interval ADP Login estimates, a graph has been provided. The data in this post can be directly downloaded from each Datawrapper table or chart. However, it's important to note that while the Interval ADP Login method offers improved accuracy and timeliness, it does not provide real-time daily population numbers or evaluate 'overcrowding' at individual facilities. A graph highlighting facilities with the greatest discrepancies between the two ADP measures is also included.
The latest facility-level population estimates for the April 14 to April 28 reporting interval have been published using the Interval ADP Login method. This new tool aims to enhance transparency and understanding of ICE detention populations, although it has its limitations. The data is available for download and can be used to inform public discourse and policy decisions.
