New programs in Illustration and Digital Photography introduced by Sessions in BFA format
Sessions College of Visual Arts, an online institution with a rich history in online education dating back to 1997, is set to expand its portfolio of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) programs with the launch of two new offerings: BFA in Illustration and BFA in Digital Photography.
These innovative programs are designed with a strong integration of digital technologies, flexible learning formats, and an industry-relevant curriculum aimed at preparing students for contemporary creative careers. While specific innovations unique to Sessions College may be revealed later this fall, current best practices suggest that these programs will encompass mastery of digital tools, portfolio development, creative problem solving, and professional preparation tailored for remote study environments.
The new BFA programs follow the same approach as Sessions' existing programs, offering a degree that is the gold standard in creative fields, with 75% of course credits focused on art/design studies. The programs are fully online and accessible to students in different time zones across the U.S. and overseas, ensuring accessibility for all.
One of the key features of the new BFA programs is the individualized feedback and mentoring from experienced faculty, as well as new industry-leading professionals. Students can expect to graduate with a portfolio showcasing specific strengths in their chosen area(s) of study or creative expression.
The programs are not adapted from a live classroom format but are specifically designed for online learning, offering a true finishing school for students with the input and mentoring of the most experienced faculty.
The BFA programs were pioneered by the Education team led by Dr. Meryl Epstein, Illustration Dept Head Jordon Schranz, and Digital Photography Dept Head Felicia Kieselhorst. The team is dedicated to giving creative students opportunities to excel.
Students can begin the BFA programs on September 6th (for AOS grads) and September 27th (for new students). The college prides itself on its affordable tuition, recognised for being significantly lower than most BFA programs with $100K+ or even $200K tuition. There are no hidden fees, no textbooks to purchase, and full-time and part-time students are charged at the same tuition rate.
