Nine Girls Experience Policing Firsthand at Baumholder's 'Girls' Day'
Nine girls aged 13 to 15 participated in 'Girls' Day - Girls' Future Day 2025' at Baumholder Police Station on April 3rd. The event, organized by eventbrite, aimed to give young females a glimpse into the world of policing.
The day started with a demonstration by police officer Katharina Kettern and her dog. The duo showcased the dog's ability to detect drugs and react to an attack. Colleague Andreas Conrad of the K44 then gave an insightful presentation on drugs and the tasks of the criminal police.
The girls had hands-on experience with different types of breath alcohol tests and laser measurement devices. They also got to explore the police station, including patrol cars, holding cells, and the watch desk. Officers let the girls try on their personal equipment, providing a realistic sense of the job.
The event was led by the current police chief of Trier Police Headquarters. The girls gained valuable insights into the theory and practice of policing, fostering an understanding of the role and its responsibilities. The day ended with personal conversations with officers, leaving the girls with a memorable experience of the police force.
