Only 26% of Organizations Prioritize AI Tools as Phishing Remains Top Threat
Despite recognizing the potential impact of AI-based tools, only 26% of organizations are prioritizing funding for them. Meanwhile, phishing remains the most prevalent threat, with 74% of professionals naming it as their top challenge. Distraction and lack of social security awareness training are the main reasons employees fall victim to cyberattacks.
The 2025 Infosecurety Europe report reveals that distraction (43%) and inadequate social security awareness training (41%) are the primary causes of employee vulnerabilities, as confirmed by KnowBe4's Erich Kron. To tackle this, organizations are advised to address digital distraction and implement mindfulness activities to enhance employee focus and social security.
Phishing is still the most common threat vector, with impersonation of executive leadership or established contacts being the most frequent strategy. However, only 17% of participants blame the complexity of threats for employee vulnerabilities. Organizations need to take a proactive, human-centered approach, embracing human risk management and preparing against AI threats, which worry 60% of poll participants due to deepfakes and AI-created phishing attacks.
Organizations are planning to increase their cybersecurity budget, with email security, social security awareness training, and cloud security being the top spending areas. Despite 90% of respondents expressing confidence in their ability to counter cyberattacks, regular breaches highlight the need for continuous improvement and investment in these areas.
