Persisting Unreliable Threats Continue to Spark Anxiety in NLMUSD Schools

In the wake of social media threats that surfaced on September 18, 2024, the North Long Beach Multi-City School District (NLMUSD) has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety and well-being of its school community.

The investigated threats, which were deemed not credible, have understandably caused distress for some students. The NLMUSD, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security, has been working diligently to assess and investigate these threats.

To provide an additional layer of security, the School Safety Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will be present in NLMUSD school communities. This increased presence aims to reassure students, families, and staff, and to address any concerns that may arise.

The NLMUSD school site staff is trained in emergency situations, and counselors will be available during school hours if a student needs to talk. Parents are encouraged to contact the school for assistance if their child needs support.

In response to these events, the NLMUSD has published this article by Los Cerritos Community News. The article is available to save, share via email, Threads, and email subscription options for the latest posts are available. Links to related articles are provided for further information.

Students, families, and staff are encouraged to report anything that makes them feel uncomfortable or concerned. By working together, we can create a safe and supportive environment for all.

Remember, your safety and well-being are our top priority. We are here to support you during these challenging times.
