Primary School Subjects Students to Cycling Exercise

On Friday, September 13, 2025, fourth-graders from Langenberg-Benteler Primary School Consortium will participate in their annual cycling proficiency test. The event, taking place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, aims to assess the children's practical cycling skills and road safety awareness in a controlled yet realistic environment.

The test route has been carefully designed and includes various segments: starting from the school playground, the course leads through residential streets around the school, moderately trafficked zones on Benteler Road, and along the cycle lane of Langenberg Park Path. The final segment will take place in the school courtyard, where the students will perform maneuverability exercises such as stop-and-go and emergency stops.

Safety is of utmost importance, and students and parents are encouraged to follow several guidelines to ensure a safe and successful test. These include wearing proper helmets, checking bicycles before the test, wearing visible clothing, understanding hand signals, obeying traffic rules, riding defensively, practicing beforehand, and bringing water and snacks.

Parents are invited to accompany their children on the route or attend the briefing held at 8:30 AM in the school hall before the test begins. Helmets and bicycles will be inspected there.

The Police Gütersloh will closely monitor the cycling proficiency test, ensuring safety and providing guidance throughout the route. For updates or additional information, you can visit their official website at [https://guetersloh.polizei.nrw/](https://guetersloh.policei.nrw/) or follow them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/polizei.nrw.gt/. You can also contact the Police Gütersloh Press Office at [email protected] or by phone at 05241 869-2271.

To support the children during the test, it is recommended to respect your own right of way and drive carefully around the school on Schulstraße in Langenberg. The children will be wearing distinctive high-visibility vests with start numbers.

The fourth-graders have been intensively prepared and are familiar with traffic rules. We wish them a fun, safe, and confident cycling proficiency test!

During the cycling proficiency test on September 13, 2025, the fourth-graders from Langenberg-Benteler Primary School Consortium can further enhance their education-and-self-development skills by demonstrating their learning about road safety and practical cycling. Parents can also engage in their children's learning process by accompanying them on the route or attending the briefing, where they can impart essential hand signals, traffic rules, and defensive riding techniques.
