Professional Mentors Seeks More Volunteers to Help Youth Find Apprenticeships
The 'Professional Mentors' project, active since 2008, is seeking more volunteers to mentor young people in finding apprenticeships. Currently, 21 young people are already benefiting from this support, with many in apprenticeships. The project offers career guidance, job application assistance, and interview preparation.
Carina Wetekam, a 10th grader at Gustav-Heinemann-Realschule, is experiencing her first job interview today, guided by professional mentors Bernhard Boss and Ernst Blömeke. The project, 'Mentors for a Time', supports young people, often with migration or refugee backgrounds, in their transition from school to work. It operates in seven schools, offering job interview training and honest feedback.
The mentors observe the candidate's appearance and interview preparation, ensuring they align with the job profile. The project is now looking for more volunteers from the city and the organization to expand this support.
Interested parties can contact coordinator Brigitte Vogler at 0561−1003 1275 or via email at [email protected] for more information. The project aims to help more young people navigate their career paths and successfully transition into the workforce.
