Rural Teen Aubrey Lambert Joins Minnesota Youth Council to Champion Education Access

Aubrey Lambert, a junior at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton High School, has been selected to serve on the Minnesota Youth Council. The 36-member, nonpartisan council advises the Minnesota governor and state Legislature on youth issues. Lambert is excited to bring her unique perspective as a young person from rural Minnesota to the board.

The Minnesota Youth Council plays a crucial role in shaping youth-related legislation. It advises on bills, creates a youth omnibus bill, testifies at hearings, and hosts youth advocacy events. Lambert, who represents Minnesota's Congressional District 7, is eager to work on council priorities such as educational access and opportunity during her two-year term. She hopes to connect with state legislators and bring a rural view to issues affecting young people across the University of Minnesota's home state. Other key priorities for the council include establishing student representation on school boards, substance abuse prevention, and school engagement and attendance. Lambert's long-term goal is to become a lawyer, and her involvement in the Youth Council is a stepping stone towards this aspiration.
