Social Network Page Management: Teachers in Altai Region to Acquire Skills for Self-Management of Their Online Profiles
Revamped take:
Ten educators from Altai embark on a digital learning adventure
A unique digital learning venture named "Branding Your Educator Identity in Social Media" by ANO "Dialogue of Regions" and the Center for Strategic Regional Projects (CSRP) brought together educators from five Siberian regions. The CSRP of the Altai region reported the news. With over 200 applications to review, only ten educators from Altai made the cut. They tackled tasks, received feedback, and shared experiences all from their primary workplaces.
Irina Bzhitskikh, a teacher at Biisk Lyceum-Internaт, Altai, spoke about her experience: "I loved the vibe and setup of the courses. I could revisit, replay, and listen at my convenience. I've begun creating short videos and posts to boost engagement, and developing cards. I've set some personal targets to apply in my everyday lessons."
The participating educators have personalized their previously impersonal social media outlets: they articulated their identities and the content they intend to share.
Not everyone in Altai grasped the purpose of the project, fearing that leading social media accounts might soon become an additional obligation for educators.
- "With teachers' already struggling to maintain high-quality education, when will they find time to teach children? Year after year, the educational standard drops! Now they're suggesting we run social media accounts! It's like a bizarre dream!"
- "When a teacher is hired to teach, why do they keep compelling us to participate voluntarily and alongside choice? A teacher should teach. Managing social media accounts is a personal decision, best executed in free time."
- "Why should a teacher require a personal brand? Isn't it about marketing businesses and networking for potential partners?"
Specialists from the CSRP cleared the air by stating that the project was designed for those interested.
"The training was delivered online, allowing participants to juggle their primary responsibilities. Our trainers appreciated the positive feedback from project participants, and expressed their eagerness to engage in similar initiatives," they revealed.
The Power of Personal Branding for Educators 🔍
While specific details about the project remain scarce, we can examine the potential benefits of a similar project for the teaching profession:
Expanding Horizons and Connecting 🌐
- Showcasing Teaching Methods: Strong online presence enables teachers to share their teaching strategies, educational resources, and collaborate with fellow educators globally.
- Public Engagement: Teachers can interact with students' families, the community, and educational partners, fostering a harmonious educational environment.
Lifelong Learning and Progress 📚
- Resource Discovery: Participating in online forums and discrete learning communities can help teachers find educational resources, innovative teaching methodologies, and cutting-edge technologies.
- Continuous Growth: Engaging in online discussions maintains a teacher's professional development and equips them with the latest educational trends.
Inspiring and Leading by Example ⚡
- Influencing Students: By demonstrating their enthusiasm and commitment to education, teachers can inspire students to adopt a more positive learning attitude.
- Modeling Leadership: Teachers can set an example for effective communication, digital literacy, and positive online behavior to teach their students crucial life skills.
Overcoming Regional Challenges 🌍
- Bridging Gaps: In regions where accessibility may be restricted, social media can help connect teachers with national and international educational peers.
- Community Pride: Highlighting local accomplishments and stories can boost community pride and encourage recognition of teachers' contributions.
To reap the rewards of such a project in the Altai region, an effective strategy tailored to local requirements and community platforms would need to be implemented.
- Some educators in Altai, who participated in the digital learning venture, have successfully used technology to define and showcase their personal brand, moving away from faceless social media outlets.
- With the venture focused on education and self-development, these participants are now able to share resources, innovative teaching methodologies, and their experiences with educators worldwide.
- The project has enabled these educators to expand their horizons, connect with like-minded professionals, and continuously learn about the latest educational trends and technologies.
