Teachers, numbering 61, take an oath for the city and our association embark on their professional journey.
In a ceremony held at the Grundschule Kreuzschule in Regensburg's old stadium, 61 trainee teachers were sworn in as provisional civil servants. State Minister Tanja Schweiger led the swearing-in, with School Director Clemens Sieber and his five colleagues presiding.
The new teachers pledged to diligently fulfill their official duties and swore allegiance to the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Constitution of the Free State of Bavaria. Among the new teachers were 46 trainee primary school teachers and 12 trainee middle school teachers.
The swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of these aspiring educators. After the ceremony, they went to their places of employment to participate in their first staff meeting.
A significant portion of the new teachers will be employed in the city of Regensburg. Thirty of them will be working in schools within the city, while 31 will begin their service at schools within the organisation. Each new teacher will receive support from a mentoring teacher at their respective schools.
The mentoring teachers will advise, help, and be available as a local contact person for the new teachers. The new teachers will gain initial experience at their places of employment and will observe experienced colleagues to learn about pedagogical approaches and various teaching styles.
The trainee teachers were also introduced to the significance of the two weekly seminar days. Seminar directors Kerstin Lindner (primary school) and Esther Hoffmann (middle school) were present at the ceremony. Numerous practical experiences are made possible through joint lesson analyses and discussions of essential teaching principles during the seminar days.
State Minister Tanja Schweiger wished the trainee teachers joy in accompanying young people and showing them their potential. She encouraged them to embrace the opportunities that come with their new roles and to make a positive impact on the lives of their students.
The mentoring teachers and school directors are looking forward to welcoming the new teachers to their schools and helping them settle into their new roles. The future is bright for these new teachers, and they are eager to start making a difference in the lives of their students.
