Thuringia, a state in central Germany, and Vietnam are deepening their economic cooperation, with a focus on vocational training and the acquisition of skilled workers. This development was announced by Thuringia's Minister of Economics, Colette Boos-John (CDU), who views Vietnam as a future market for the Thuringian economy due to its rapid economic growth.

The Industry and Commerce Chamber (IHK) South Thuringia is playing a pivotal role in these initiatives. In August, 60 young people from Vietnam will commence apprenticeships in 25 companies across Thuringia. Since 2018, 304 young Vietnamese have undergone training in Thuringia, as mentioned by IHK President Torsten Herrmann.

To further discuss opportunities for vocational training and potential trade relations, a Vietnam Day event will be held on August 7 in Suhl. The city of Erfurt and the State Development Corporation (LEG) in Erfurt are also involved in organising this event.

The Minister of Economics, Colette Boos-John, plans to travel to Vietnam in November with an economic delegation. The delegation aims to explore markets and acquire skilled workers in Vietnam.

To facilitate the integration of young Vietnamese trainees, Thuringia provides financial support for language training. The LEG Managing Director, Andreas Krey, will present projects of the state company related to market exploration and skilled worker acquisition in Vietnam on Thursday in Suhl.

The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement is facilitating trade between Thuringia and Vietnam. This agreement, which came into effect in 2020, is expected to boost economic cooperation between the two regions.

The IHK South Thuringia often facilitates bilateral economic cooperation and vocational training collaborations between German regions and countries like Vietnam. These initiatives typically focus on establishing partnerships for skilled labor recruitment in industrial and technical sectors, facilitating vocational training programs and apprenticeships aligned with German standards, and promoting trade and investment linkages between South Thuringia companies and Vietnamese counterparts.

For specific, up-to-date details regarding projects or agreements directly involving IHK South Thuringia and Vietnam, and skilled worker programs, you may need to consult official IHK South Thuringia communications or bilateral economic development offices.
