Twelve authors have been chosen for the eleventh annual workshop by The Writer's Lab

The Writers Lab, a nonprofit dedicated to elevating the work of women and nonbinary screenwriters over 40, has announced its 12 selected participants for 2025. The esteemed group includes Amy Fox, Pamela Gray, Jenny Halper, Rita Hsiao, Meg Lefauve, Amenya Makuku, Mary Jane Skalski, Shelby Stone, Robin Swicord, Pat Verducci, Tracey Scott Wilson, and Jamie Zelermyer.

The Writers Lab has a strong track record, with over 400 meetings for writers with leading industry members, three produced and released projects, and another 38 currently in pre-production. Alumni of The Writers Lab have been staffed in writers rooms, signed with managers and agents, landed deals, and moved their scripts into production.

The program partners with numerous organisations, including New York Women in Film & Television, the Writers Guild of America, East, Falco Ink, Film Fatales, The Black List, the Alliance of Women Directors, Untamed Stories, Firecracker Department, and the Female Eye Film Festival. This year, MountainA, the production company founded by Natalie Portman and Sophie Mas, has come forward with support to develop an Industry Advocacy Program.

The Industry Advocacy Program is designed to support participating writers by providing them with industry connections, career guidance, and promotional opportunities. The lab will focus on tools and strategies to navigate professional opportunities and build sustainable careers, with accomplished women creatives as mentors. The 12 selected screenwriters will gather in early November for a retreat in New York City.
