UH Manoa Breaks Enrollment Record as Demand for Higher Education Surges
The University of Hawaii at Manoa (UH Manoa) has reported significant growth in student loans, bucking national trends. This fall, UH Manoa welcomed a record number of students, driven by renewed interest in higher education and strong demand for its programs.
UH Manoa enrolled 20,404 students this fall, a 1.9% increase from last year. This growth is part of a wider trend across the University of Hawaii system, which saw a total enrollment of 51,411 students, the highest in eight years. The systemwide enrollment grew by 2% over 2024 and 5.1% since 2023.
The Early Admit program also saw a record number of participants, with 4,030 students, an 8.4% rise from the previous year. UH President Wendy Hensel attributed this growth to renewed enthusiasm for higher education and strong interest in UH's programs. The university aims to sustain this growth through improved access, technology, and support for both local and international students.
UH Manoa's international student enrollment increased by 1.9%, bucking national trends of steep declines. The most traditional countries of origin for international students at UH Manoa are Arizona, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. Meanwhile, UH West Oahu and UH Hilo also saw enrollment gains, while UH community colleges collectively grew by 2.2%.
UH Manoa's record enrollment is a testament to the university's commitment to providing quality education and supporting student success. With investments in predictive technology, such as the $7.4 million, five-year contract for EAB Navigate360 and EAB Edify, UH is poised to continue this growth and improve student outcomes.
