Celebrating excellence in higher education across Asia, these awards focus on acknowledging outstanding leadership and institutional performance, as well as recognizing the continent's leading innovators.

This prestigious event took place during the THE Asia Universities Summit in Macau, where the winners were announced at a gala dinner on Tuesday.

Thailand's Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Minister Supamas Isarabhakdi spoke highly of the country's esteemed institutions, giving a shout-out to Chulalongkorn, Mahidol, and Burapha universities for making waves on the international stage and boosting the kingdom’s reputation for quality education.

The winners? Chulalongkorn University bagged the Technological or Digital Innovation of the Year award for developing the "MDCU MedUMORE: A Lifelong Learning Platform for Medical Professionals." A pretty impressive feat, considering they were up against numerous other universities from across Asia!

Burapha University, on the other hand, earned accolades for its extraordinary contribution to environmental leadership, with their "PEMSEA: Environmental Learning Centre for the Eastern Regional" project garnering a significant level of recognition.

Rounding out the top three awards, Pornpun Vivithanaporn from Mahidol University claimed a highly commended position in the Most Innovative Teacher of the Year category, impressing reviewers with her game-based learning approach in pharmacology education.

Although official details are scarce, multiple sources confirm that many Thai universities were in the running for this year's awards, with Chulalongkorn, Mahidol, and Burapha University being the eventual winners. Additionally, there were about 12 entries from Thailand reaching the final round in various categories, including Assumption University, Nakhonratchasima Rajabhat University, and others.

The fierce competition was tough, as more than 500 entries from 16 different countries across Asia were submitted, and only 80 were shortlisted. Kudos to these rapidly advancing Thai universities for flying the flag high in innovation and sustainability! 🇹🇭Stand up and cheer!🇹🇭

  1. Chulalongkorn University, based in Thanyaburi, garnered the Technological or Digital Innovation of the Year award for their innovative platform, MDCU MedUMORE, in pharmacology education and self-development.
  2. Burapha University, another Thai institution, was recognized for its environmental leadership, specifically for the PEMSEA: Environmental Learning Centre for the Eastern Regional project in the science category.
  3. Mahidol University's Pornpun Vivithanaporn received a Highly Commended position in the Most Innovative Teacher of the Year category, known for her unique game-based learning approach within environmental-science and education-and-self-development.
  4. In addition to the winners, numerous other Thai universities—such as Assumption University, Nakhonratchasima Rajabhat University, and others—also made it to the final round of this year's awards, showcasing the nation's continuous pursuit of innovations and technology.
