Ushakov University Cadets Dominate 'Sovcomflot' Scholarship Competition

The Admiral F.F. Ushakov State Maritime University hosted a thrilling competition among 'Sovcomflot' scholarship holders from September 24 to 26, 2025. The event, opened by PAO 'Sovcomflot' General Director Igor Tonkovidov, aimed to become an annual affair. It tested future navigators, marine engineers, and electrical engineers from leading universities in practical skills and English language proficiency.

The cadets faced challenging tasks such as managing a life raft, donning wetsuits and life jackets, performing high jumps into water, descending a storm ladder, extinguishing improvised fires, and evacuating 'injured' individuals. The jury, composed of experienced 'Sovcomflot' specialists, evaluated participants' skills and professional terminology. Ushakov University cadets dominated individual awards.

The competition concluded with a tense battle for team supremacy. After careful consideration of both team and individual achievements, the jury announced the results. Ushakov University emerged victorious, followed by Makarov University and Admiral G.I. Nevelskoy University in second and third places respectively.

The 'Sovcomflot' scholarship competition at Ushakov University ended successfully, with the host university's team taking the top spot. The event showcased the participants' skills and commitment, setting the stage for future annual competitions.
