Ushakov University Wins Inaugural Sovcomflot School Competition

On September 26, 2025, the Admiral F.F. Ushakov State Maritime University emerged victorious in the inaugural Sovcomflot company school competitions. The event, held at the university, saw cadets from three leading maritime institutions competing in various tasks that tested their skills and knowledge.

The competition, the first of its kind among Sovcomflot scholarship holders, took place over three days from September 24 to 26. It evaluated the participants' abilities in managing a lifeboat, putting on diving suits and life jackets, performing water jumps, descending a storm gangway, extinguishing fires, and evacuating 'injured' people.

The jury, comprising high-class specialists with extensive fleet experience and a thorough understanding of Sovcomflot standards, assessed both team and individual performances. The use of English and professional terminology in classroom settings was also evaluated.

Igor Tonkovidov, General Director of PAO 'Sovcomflot', opened the competition via video link, expressing his confidence that it would become an annual event. The Ushakov University team took first place, followed by Admiral S.O. Makarov State University and Admiral G.I. Nevelskoy Maritime State University. The Ushakov University team also received the highest number of individual awards.

The competition served as an opportunity for the cadets to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in a practical setting. The Ushakov University's victory reflects their strong performance in both team and individual tasks. Sovcomflot has expressed its intention to make this competition an annual event, further promoting maritime education and excellence.
