Vietnamese Bookcase Initiative Gains Global Recognition, Boosts Language Preservation
The 'Vietnamese Bookshelf' initiative, a collaborative effort by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SCOV) and Vietnam Education Publishing House (VEPH), has gained international traction. It's now present in numerous countries with Vietnamese communities, including Hungary, Japan, France, and more. This initiative aims to preserve and promote the Vietnamese language among overseas communities.
The 'Vietnamese Bookshelf' initiative offers a diverse collection of books, curated by VEPH, that cater to school students. These include engaging materials like comics, folk tales, and popular science books. The initiative has received significant recognition, winning the National Award for External Information in 2023 and being awarded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the same year.
A highlight of the initiative was the book presentation at the Laos-Vietnam Friendship School in Champasak province during a SCOV delegation's working trip to Laos's Pakse city. Nguyen Trung Kien, SCOV chairman, praised the school's teaching and learning achievements at the ceremony. The event carried practical significance, connecting the Vietnamese community in Laos and strengthening the Vietnam-Laos friendship as part of the Vietnamese Language Day 2025 plan.
The 'Vietnamese Bookshelf' initiative, with its broad influence and practical value, continues to nurture a love for the Vietnamese language, develop reading culture, and broaden knowledge among students in Vietnamese communities worldwide.
