Yakutia Prosecutors Uncover Serious Labor Rights Violations in Forestry

Prosecutors in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) have uncovered serious labor rights violations in forestry enterprises under the Ministry of Ecology, Natural Resources and Forestry. Over 500 workers were affected, with issues including delayed wages and benefits.

The investigation began after a worker filed a complaint. Prosecutors discovered violations of Article 236 of the Labor Code, including delayed wages, vacation pay, final settlements, and sick leave benefits. They sent 25 representations and initiated 30 administrative cases under the Code of Administrative Offenses.

The prosecutor's office also sent a representation to the Minister of Ecology, Natural Resources and Forestry, Yevgeny Perfilyev, due to insufficient departmental control. Following the investigation, violations were eliminated, and compensation totaling 126 thousand rubles was paid to the affected workers. Disciplinary and administrative actions were taken against 21 and 30 workers respectively.

The prosecutor's office in Yakutia has successfully addressed labor rights violations in forestry enterprises, ensuring compensation for affected workers and taking action against those responsible. The ministry has been urged to improve its departmental control to prevent future violations.
