Yakutsk Marks 85 Years of Vocational Education with Competitions and New Workshops
Yakutsk hosted a somber event celebrating the 85th anniversary of its secondary professional education system. Today, 42 institutions educate around 25,000 students, with the first courses starting in 1930 for rural mechanizers.
The event featured the X competition 'Miss and Mister of Professional Education' and the IV Republican Professional Competition 'PROfSPOT'. The former saw winners and runners-up from various colleges and technical schools, while the latter awarded diplomas based on comprehensive evaluations.
The development of vocational education in Yakutia began with courses for mechanizers. Later, in the late 1950s and early 1960s, schools for mechanizers, livestock breeders, and field workers were established. By the 1970s, the focus shifted to complex mechanized labor professions.
The event was attended by representatives from all local vocational institutions. The Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Aisen Nikolaev, inaugurated 21 workshops and branded classes in 9 colleges and technical schools.
The anniversary event was marked by greetings from the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the Minister of Education, Sergei Kravtsov. The demand for skilled workers in crucial professions remains high, with over 500 clusters established across Russia.
